These are some of the questions we are frequently asked about p?rjus. We hope that this information will answer some of your questions. If not, please feel free to contact us.

Are p?rjus juices certified USDA Organic?

Yes, in addition to being EU organic, all p?rjus juices are recognized as USDA organic as a result of the 2012 U.S.–EU organic equivalency agreement.

What does it mean to be USDA Organic?

Organic foods are made according to specific growing and production standards.

The use of conventional non-organic pesticides, insecticides and herbicides is greatly restricted and avoided. Before a product can be labeled ‘organic,’ a Government-approved certifier inspects the farm where the food is grown to make sure the farmer is following all the rules necessary to meet organic standards, including using natural fertilizers and crop rotation to minimize insects and diseases and maximize soil health. These measures ensure the purity of the harvest and eliminate synthetic pesticides.

In addition, the manufacturing facility is carefully inspected to ensure strict standards are adhered to during production.

Are your juices pasteurized?

Yes, all p?rjus items are pasteurized for safety. Juices that are unpasteurized have a shorter shelf life and are more susceptible to being contaminated by harmful microorganisms.

Does juice count toward my daily fruit and vegetable intake?

Juice labeled “100 percent juice” is made purely from the juice of whole fruits and vegetables. It contains no additives, sweeteners or preservatives. A high intake of fruits and vegetables is essential for optimal health. The U.S. Department of Agriculture recommends adults consume at least 1 1/2 to 2 cups of fruit and 2 to 3 cups of vegetables per day. As a complement to whole fruit, 100% fruit juice can help meet daily fruit and vegetable needs. One 8 oz. glass of 100% juice counts as 1 fruit/vegetable serving.

Other than general health benefits from consuming fruits and vegetables, do purjus juices offer any specific health benefits?

Beet juice is quickly gaining attention for its many health benefits due to naturally occurring nitrates. Beet juice has been shown to reduce blood pressure and lower risk of stroke, as well as increase strength and stamina.

Apple juice contains antioxidants which may help avoid or delay the onset of Alzheimer’s disease, as well as reduce risk of stroke.

Pears also provide many health benefits, from preventing high blood pressure and reducing the risk of stroke to helping to lower cholesterol.

Some of your juices are ‘from concentrate’, what does this mean?

Ingredients listing ‘from concentrate’ indicate that water was removed from the original juice, then added back later. Because we make no change in the juice other than water being removed and the same amount put back in, our juices are nutritionally the same as juices not made from concentrate. We never add flavorings, sweeteners, or preservatives.

Drinking 100 percent fruit juice – whether from concentrate or not – offers many health benefits due to the high amounts of vitamins and minerals.

Is p?rjus shelf stable?

Our juices have a long shelf life and do not require refrigeration until opened. Because our juices do not contain preservatives, bottles that have been opened should be refrigerated and consumed within 7 days.

Why does p?rjus use glass bottles?

Glass is completely tasteless and non-gas-permeable. This means external, undesired elements (such as oxygen, flavors and odors) cannot get into the juice, and nothing is able to escape from the bottle (flavor). This allows for full retention of flavor, content and aroma. With glass bottling, there is no migration of packaging materials into the product, as can happen with plastic or aluminum, having negative effects on product quality. We encourage you to recycle these glass bottles.
